KRASNOYARSK, November 25, 13:32 /ITAR-TASS/. On the 50th day of relay throughout Russia the main symbol of the Sochi Winter Olympics, which is the Olympic Flame lighted in Greece’s Olympia, the original place of ancient Olympic Games, has reached the geographical center of Russia - the city of Krasnoyarsk, East Siberia. Hundreds of Siberian residents and guests of the Siberian city welcomed the Olympic Flame on the platform of the railway station.
The Monday’s stage of the Olympic Flame relay will be brief, but quite event-intensive. The Olympic Flame will be brought to the Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric power plant in the city of Divnogorsk from the railway station. As many as 21 Olympic torch bearers will carry the Olympic Flame through all historical sites of the city.
The Olympic torch bearers will run on the bridge across Yenisei River with a major hydroelectric power plant in view. Veteran of construction of the city and the Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric power plant Adolf Gulyayev will be the first Olympic torch bearer, four most robust employees of the hydroelectric power plant will take the Olympic torch from him. The Divnogorsk stage of the Olympic Flame relay will end on the central square of the city with festive gatherings.
The Olympic Flame relay will continue at the highland ski center - park Bobrovy Log (beaver’s home). The Olympic torch bearers will bring the Olympic Flame by a ratrack, which a special tractor for making mountain ski routes, on the top of the ski route. A snowboarder will take the Olympic Flame and will pass it to a mountain skier then.
For the guests of the holiday two photo studios will be open at the mountain ski complex. The pictures of young artists, who participated in the drawing contest under the title “Olympic Flame”, will be exhibited at the service centre.
During the celebrations people can leave a message to the participants in the World University Games Universiade-2019, which will be the next remarkable sport event in the city of Krasnoyarsk. All messages with wishes will be put in a capsule, which will be opened up at a festive opening ceremony of the Winter Universiade in 2019.
Bright fireworks will be staged in honor of the Olympic Flame.
The Olympic Flame has arrived in Krasnoyarsk Territory already for the second time. At first it arrived in the territory on November 7 in the Polar regional city of Norilsk, 2,000 kilometres north of Krasnoyarsk.
For the whole history of the Winter Olympics the Sochi Olympic Flame relay will be the longest one. As many as 14,000 Olympic torch bearers will be carrying the Olympic torch through 2,900 settlements in all 83 federal constituent entities of the country. The Olympic Flame relay will end at an opening ceremony of the Sochi Winter Olympics on February 7, 2014.
