BLAGOVESHCHENSK, November 18, /ITAR-TASS/. Over 10,000 people welcomed the arrival of the Olympic torch to Birobidzhan, the capital city of the Jewish Autonomous District.
The ceremony was organised at the railway station, from where the torch relay will start along the city’s main streets to finish in Theatre Square. The relay of ten kilometres will feature 50 torchbearers.
The relay in Birobidzhan will finish will a festive ceremony of lighting the Olympic flame city bowl. At about 23:00 /16:00 Moscow time/ the Olympic symbol will move on to the city of Belogorsk in the Amur region.
