МOSCOW, November 9 (Itar-Tass) - The Miss Universe beauty contest, for the first time held in Russia, really will be the most impressive in the history of the show, believes American billionaire and television personality Donald Trump.
At a press conference in Moscow before the contest finals, Trump said that his forecast came true. Last summer he said the Russian show would be the grandest, and it would be so. It would be the best, he believes.
Eighteen countries, including China, contended to host the contest, but Russia showed that it would be able to do it on the highest level, the billionaire noted.
The Miss Universe contest in Russia is a good opportunity to show the country to the world before the Sochi Olympic Games. It will be broadcast to 175 countries, and more than 2,5 billion people will watch it. It is a good opportunity to demonstrate to the entire world on what high level the country can host such international events, Trump noted.
Criticism against Russia about its intolerance toward gays is absolutely groundless, he stressed. There are many such people in the team, and all are welcomed. They do not feel uncomfortable, he said.
The Miss Universe contest is held in Russia for the first time in more than 60 years of the show history. Sixteen girls will compete for the title of the planet's most beautiful in the finals that will be held on Saturday evening. Nineteen-year-old Elmira Abdrazakova represents Russia at the contest.
