Olympic Torch Relay to pass throughout Moscow Region

MOSCOW, October 10 (Itar-Tass) - The Olympic Torch Relay will pass throughout the Moscow region on Thursday, October 10.

The Olympic Torch cortege will cover over 42 kilometres and visit Kolomna, Odintsovo, the Arkhangelskoye estate museum, Krasnogorsk and Dmitrov.

The Olympic flame was carried to Kolomna on Wednesday night. The relay will start at 7:15 a.m. Moscow time and visit the local speed skating centre. The Olympic Torch will be in Kolomna for two hour and it will leave for Dmitrov. While in Kolomna, the Olympic Torch wil be carried by cosmonaut Mikhail Tyurin, chief coach of the Russian speed skating national team Valery Muratov and CSKA hockey-player Sergei Shirokov.

One more cortege carrying the Olympic symbol will leave for Odintsovo where it will be carried by Olympic figure skating champion Alexander Gorshkov and world champions Oksana Domnina and Maxim Shabalin. Honoured Teacher of Russia Gildagart Bott will be the first torchbearer in Odintsovo.

In the afternoon the Olympic Torch will arrive in Arkhangelskoye where a horse show will be performed. Yuri Pyankov will be one of the torchbearers.

While in Krasnogorsk, famous CSKA hockey-player, two-time Olympic champion Vladimir Petrov will be one of the heroes of the solemn ceremony. The Olympic Torch will also descend on the ski slope.

At 5 p.m. the Olympic Torch will come to Dmitrov where famous bobber Albert Demchenko will bear the torch. Then the relay will be continued by speed skater Alexander Kibalko, judo-player Kirill Voprosov and Sports Minister of the Moscow region Oleg Zholobov.

Afterwards the Olympic Torch Relay will be on the way to Tver Region where the next stage is held on October 11.

The Olympic flame will visit 83 Russian regions. It will be taken into orbit and plunge to the bottom of Lake Baikal. The Olympic Torch Relay will be ended in Sochi on February 7 where the Olympic Games are launched.
