KAZAN, July 8 (Itar-Tass) - Russian athlete Serafima Safonova won gold in the weight category of 58 kilogrammes in a belt wrestling competition at 27th Summer Universiade in Kazan on Monday, July 8.

Safonova overtook Sakagami Katsuki of Japan in the final round.

Burul Alykulova of Kyrgyzstan and Rushana Nuzjavova of Turkmenistan took bronze medals in this category.

Russian athlete Anna Emelyanenko took silver in the weight category of 66 kilogrammes in belt wrestling, beating Alice Hester Schlesinger of Israel.

Enkhchimeg Sodnomsuren of Mongolia) and Gulnur Maitbaeva of Turkmenistan won bronze medals.

Gulbadam Babamuratova of Turkmenistan won the gold medal in a women’s freestyle 52 kg belt wrestling event. In the final, she defeated Ulviyya Kerimova of Azerbaijan.

Zamira Akhmedova of Uzbekistan, who beat Alana Lazarova of Russia and Gulnur Yerbolova of Uzbekistan took bronze.
