LONDON, October 11 (Itar-Tass). — Iran should stop issuing threats to Israel, before the leading countries of the West restore diplomatic relations with it, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in an interview published by the Financial Times on Friday.

“Iran is calling for the annihilation of the Jewish state and of a member state of the UN,” Mr. Netanyahu told the Financial Times. “It seems sensible that Britain would say, ‘before we re-establish diplomatic relations, abandon this’.”

Last week, the UK and the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) stated that they had started the process of harmonizing relations with a view to restoring full-fledged diplomatic relations. The UK closed its embassy in Tehran in autumn 2011. Switzerland currently represents Britain’s interests in the IRI.
