Seven militants eliminated in Iraqi Kurdistan

Seven more captured; the army conducts special operation in the wake of recent bombings

KUWAIT, October 8. (Itar-Tass) – A military operation in Iraqi Kurdistan resulted in seven Al-Qaeda militants eliminated. Al Mayadeen TV channel reported that local law enforcements managed to also capture seven militants affiliated with a recent series of explosions in the region.

Security forces launched the anti-terrorist operation in the Iraqi Kurdistan as a reaction to the recent terrorist acts. The operation included several army units and national police forces.

Prior to this operation, Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant extremist group affiliated with Al Qaeda took responsibility for terrorist actions on the territory of Iraqi Kurdistan aimed against civilians and military facilities. These actions were Islamists’ retaliation for Kurds’ participation in military actions against Syrian opposition.
