MOSCOW, September 17 (Itar-Tass) - Russia and Syria have discussed the practical steps on the Russian-American agreement regarding Syrian chemical weaponry arsenal, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

The discussion was held in Moscow by Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and the Syrian ambassador to Russia, Riyadh Haddad.

“The practical steps on the Russian-American agreement were discussed in the context of Syria’s joining the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on their Destruction,” a spokesman for the Foreign Ministry said.

“The two men also discussed the prospects for a quickest  possible political settlement of the Syrian crisis on the basis of the June 30, 2012, Geneva communique on the convocation of an international conference on Syria,” he said.
