MOSCOW, September 4 (Itar-Tass) - Russia hopes that Egypt’s counter-terrorism measures will make it possible to normalise the situation on the Sinai Peninsula and ensure security, the ministry’s press service reported on Wednesday.

“On September 3 Egypt’s armed forces conducted a large-scale counter-terrorist operation by delivering missile strikes on radical Islamists near Sheikh Zayed City, the north of the Sinai Peninsula,” the report says.

“Storages of missiles and other weapons, as well as transport have been destroyed. Egyptian representatives said the authorities continued the efforts to ensure security on the Sinai Peninsula and neutralize armed and criminal groups there,” the report says.

“We repeat our recommendations for Russian citizens, who are currently staying in Egypt, to be careful and not leave the resort areas,” the report says.
