First court hearing on Muslim Brotherhood dissolution due November 12

CAIRO, September 2. (Itar-Tass). – Egypt’s Judicial Board recommended the court on Monday to dissolve the Muslim Brotherhood association, officially registered as a nongovernmental organization.

The first court hearing on the dissolution of Muslim Brotherhood are scheduled for November 12. The Judicial Board’s recommendation is not obligatory.

The movement that helped Mohammed Morsi become president was founded in 1928 году and later dissolved in 1954 by Egypt’s military authorities. Since then the Muslim Brotherhood acted secretly until the overthrow of Hosni Mubarak’s regime in 2011. Mubarak’s successor Morsi was overthrown by the military July 3, 2013 after mass protests. After that, most of the Muslim Brotherhood’s governing body members were arrested on accusations of violence fomentation in the country. A similar case against Morsi has been passed to the court the day before.
