CAIRO, August 27 (Itar-Tass) - In case of NATO’s armed aggression Syria will not surrender, but will fight back with all available means, its Foreign Minister, Walid Moallem, told a news conference in Damascus on Tuesday.
“Those who are planning attacks against Syria think they will ruin the unity of the leadership, the army and the people. This is an illusion. It will never happen,” Moallem said.
“I have doubts the West is really planning a military operation against Damascus. In any case it will not stop the anti-terrorist operation the Syrian army is conducting near the city. We shall not tolerate a situation in which militants keep residential quarters under fire,” Moallem said.
He is certain that any military strike against Syria dealt with the aim of establishing a balance of force between the government troops and the militants will be futile.
“If a foreign military intervention is launched with the aim of establishing such a balance, it will be a delusion,” Moallem said.
