Two bombs explode in Lebanese city of Tripoli after Friday prayer

BEIRUT, August 23. (Itar-Tass). – Two massive explosions occurred in Tripoli in the northern part of Lebanon, 90 km from Beirut, on Friday. As reported by Naharnet news portal, the first bomb detonated in the square in front of Taqwa mosque right after the Friday prayer. There have been injured among the spirituals.

Another blast went off in the Mina district, near the house of Najib Mikati, acting Prime Minister of Lebanon. Al-Arabiya TV channel reports about a fire-fight heard in different blocks of Tripoli.

Tripoli remains a major focus of intercommunal conflicts in Lebanon due to the events developing in neighboring Syria.
