BEIRUT, August 8 (Itar-Tass) - Syria’s Information Minister Omar Ohed al-Zoubi on Thursday denied reports on an ostensible assault on the motorcade of President Bashar al-Assad.

“This information is an absolute lie,” he said.

Al-Arabiya channel said earlier one of the field commanders of the Syrian irreconcilable opposition had made claims about an attack on the presidential motorcade. Syrian local television aired footage soon after that showing Assad during prayer in a Damascus mosque on the occasion of the religious holiday of Id-ul-Fitr, which marks the end of the wholly month of Ramadan.
