MOSCOW, July 22 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has received Ambassador of the League of Arab States to Russia Jalal Al Mashta to exchange views on the situation in the Middle East and North Africa.
Special attention was paid to the situation in Syria and Egypt, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on Monday.
Lavrov confirmed that there was no alternative to the political settlement in Syria. The Russian minister called for solving internal problems by peaceful means based on the principles of national accord.
Lavrov and Al Mashta agreed to strengthen cooperation in different fields, including within the Russian-Arab Cooperation Forum.
