MOSCOW, July 8 (Itar-Tass) - Mass rallies that embraced Egypt’s resorts of Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh overnight occurred far away from hotels. Tourists remain in safe areas, a spokeswoman for the Russian federal tourism agency (Rostourism), Irina Shchegolkova, told Itar-Tass on Monday.
“According to our representative, who is staying in Egypt, peace rallies took place far away from hotels and tourists felt no inconveniences over this,” she said.
During protests supporters and opponents of President Mohamed Mursi, who was overthrown, took to streets of Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh. In both municipalities security measures were increased.
