MOSCOW, July 4 (Itar-Tass) - There have been no reports about possible evacuation of Russian diplomats from Egypt, Russia’s acting consul general in Alexandria, Gennady Babich, told Itar-Tass on Thursday.

According to the Russian diplomat, the situation in Alexandria is “rather calm.” “There were clashes between supporters and opponents after the statement of the military in the evening,” he noted. “Now the situation is calm. As far as I understand, Russian citizens do not take part in it, there have been no complaints from Russian national so far.”

“The Russian consulate general is working in a routine regime,” Babich said. “However, we were closed on June 30 as a preventive measure when protests began but later, from Monday, we have been working routinely. Nothing extraordinary.”

“There has been no information about possible evacuation of Russian diplomats from Egypt,” he stressed.
