MOSCOW, June 28. /ITAR-TASS /. Head of Russian Foreign Ministry Sergei Lavrov is set to visit Morocco until the end of the current year. He said this today after talks with his Moroccan counterpart Saad al-Din al-Osmani.

“My colleague has invited me to visit Morocco,” Lavrov said. “I have accepted the invitation, and now we’re trying to coordinate the dates, preferably it will be before the end of the year.”

For its part, al-Osmani has confirmed he will wait for Lavrov's visit to Rabat before the end of the year since “it will open up new prospects for cooperation.”

Russian Foreign Minister has also expressed the hope that the two countries will soon finalize a memorandum to fight terrorism.

“We have close cooperation in the fight against terrorism through bilateral channels with Morocco,” he said after the talks with his Moroccan counterpart Saad-Eddine Al-Othmani. “An intergovernmental memorandum on this issue is being prepared and I hope we will soon finalize it. Possibly, we will be able to sign it during my visit.”
