CAIRO, June 25. /ITAR-TASS /. Six Libyan soldiers were killed in an attack of a group of militants on a checkpoint of the city of Sirte. As reported by the representative of the Libyan law enforcement, none of the armed groups operating in this area has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Sirte, located on the Mediterranean coast, has become the last bastion of resistance for former supporters of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi during the civil war in 2011. In this city the former Libyan leader was forced to hide until his death.

Currently, the new authorities unsuccessfully try to take control the disparate armed rebel groups which have become more active after the fall of the regime of Colonel Gaddafi.
