GENEVA, June 24 (Itar-Tass) - The tripartite meeting with the participation of Russian, U.S. and U.N. diplomats will be held in Geneva on Tuesday, June 25, to discuss preparations for the Geneva-2 conference on Syria, the press service of the U.N. Office in Geneva reported on Monday.

The U.N. will be represented by U.N./LAS Special Envoy Lakhdar Brahimi. Deputies foreign minister, Mikhail Bogdanov and Gennady Gatilov, will represent Russia. The U.S. delegation will be led by Under-Secretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman.

On June 5, the parties failed to settle the key disagreements. Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the disagreements had not been settled yet. “Now we’re holding consultations with the U.S. and the U.N. to discuss participants in the meeting. There are two problems: who will represent the opposition and what will be external players,” Lavrov said in St Petersburg last week.

Initially it was planning that the Geneva-2 conference could take place in June or July.

Recently statements have made that the conference will be organised in August.
