ST. PETERSBURG, June 20 (Itar-Tass) - Western partners are uncertain that they will be able to persuade the Syrian Opposition to take part in the Geneva-2 conference, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on the Russia-24 television news channel.

“As for the dates (of the conference), we have suggested setting them in order to have some specific deadline. The Western partners opposed that,” Lavrov said, adding that it was agreed on the formula “in the near future”.

The Russian foreign minister believes that Western partners are uncertain about their ability to persuade the Opposition to participate in the conference.
