CAIRO, June 19 (Itar-Tass) - The Taliban has claimed responsibility for an attack on the US military base Bagram, situated 50 kilometers away from Afghan capital Kabul.

Earlier sources from the US administration said four American military were had been killed as a result of a terrorist act in Afghanistan.

A statement by the Taliban said that last night gunmen struck the base with “two powerful missiles that reached the target”. It also said there were wounded among US military and that a fire had broken out at military facilities.

The attack on the US base came several hours after the announcement of the start of a dialogue between Afghan insurgents and the US that is to begin in Doha, the capital of Qatar, on Thursday.
