CAIRO, June 18 (Itar-Tass) - Afghan President Hamid Karzai said on Tuesday his country’s armed forces are taking over responsibility for security around the country from the U.S.-led coalition.
He spoke at the ceremony devoted to the handover of responsibility by the American and NATO military forces to Afghanistan ahead of their full withdrawal in 2014.
The handover ceremony is attended by NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen.
Shortly before the ceremony a bombing in the Afghan capital killed three people and wounded another 30.
