TEHRAN, June 11 (Itar-Tass) - Former Iranian Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref has withdrawn his candidacy from the election of the Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic. The local media outlets reported on Tuesday that Aref who represents the reformist wing, took this step after consultations with the leader of the Iranian reformists and former President Mohammad Khatami.
On Monday, ex-chairman of the Iranian parliament Gholam Ali Haddad also withdrew from the presidential race.
As of today, there are six candidates running in the Iranian presidential election that is to be held on June 14.
