MOSCOW, May 18 (Itar-Tass) - Iran proposes to hold an alternative meeting of friends of Syria in Tehran, Iranian Ambassador to Russia Reza Sajjadi said on Saturday.
Iran proposes to hold such a meeting on the level of foreign ministers and deputy ministers, the ambassador said. Representative of 30 countries whose attitude to Syria is friendly are invited, including Iraq, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Algeria.
Under discussion at the meeting will be ways of peaceful settlement of the Syrian conflict and possibilities to sit down the internal Syrian opposition at the negotiating table, Sajjadi noted.
