HANNOVER, April 8 (Itar-Tass) –  Russian President Vladimir Putin considers it necessary to do the best to suspend arms supplies to all parties involved in the conflict in Syria.

“In my view, it is necessary to do the best to suspend arms supplies to all parties involved in the conflict,” Putin told a joint press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Monday.

Commenting on reproaches that Russia would not stop arms supplies to Damascus, the Russian president said, “We’re supplying to the legitimate regime and this can’t be banned by any international decisions.”

At the same time, Putin stressed, “We are ready to gather with everyone to discuss and think of how to overcome this ‘bloodbath’.”

The Russian president said Merkel and he had long discussions on the Syrian problem. “I exposed the nuances of our view in detail. It seemed to me Mrs. Federal Chancellor heard them and praised,” he added.

Putin said the German government voiced concern over the bloodshed in Syria. “Our German colleagues and we want to find such variant, which would stop the bloodshed at the initial stage,” the Russian president said.
