LONDON, March 3 (Itar-Tass) – Syrian President Bashar Al Assad lauded Russia’s role in settling the armed conflict.
In an interview with The Sunday Times, Al Assad said Russia had played a constructive role in Syria.
Iran supported Syria while Hezbollah protected Lebanon, Al Assad added.
He denied reports saying Russia, Lebanon’s Hezbollah and Iran had sent their soldiers to Syria. Syria is the country with the population of 23 million people. The country has a strong national army and police and does not need foreign soldiers in order to defend it, the Syrian president stressed.
