BERLIN, February 26 (Itar-Tass) – Russia and the United States will spare no effort to create conditions to encourage a dialogue between Syria’s government and the opposition, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Tuesday.

“As concerns Syria, the main thing is that we have confirmed our common understanding of unacceptability of further violence and this understanding means that Russia and the United States are set to do what they can, and of course not everything depends on them, but they will do their best to create conditions promoting the soonest beginning of the dialogue between the government and the opposition,” Lavrov said after a meeting with United States Secretary of State John Kerry.

“No one can solve Syria’s problems but the Syrians themselves, but it is necessary to sit down at the negotiating table to discuss such solutions,” he added.
