MOSCOW, February 9 (Itar-Tass) – There have been some encouraging shifts in the work for the release of two Russian convicts, Alexander Shadrov and Vladimir Dolgov in Libya, Russia’s ambassador in Tripoli, Ivan Molotkov, has told Itar-Tass in an interview on Friday.

“It is common knowledge that some Russian mass media, and not only mass media, tend to accuse the Foreign Ministry and the embassy in Tripoli of insufficient attention to the problem of Shadrov and Dolgov, whom a Libyan court sentenced to long prison terms,” the diplomat said.

“The Shadrov-Dolgov affair is being actively discussed in the Internet space, but I would not like to get involved in the polemics over why it happened and how it happened,” Molotkov said. “I can merely confirm that we have been doing our utmost for the sake of securing the release of our citizens, and we shall keep doing so until we succeed. The work is on and there have been some encouraging shifts.”

“One should not interpret what I’ve just said as a standard cliche,” the ambassador said. “I cannot speak in greater detail now so as not to cause harm.”
