Russia Deputy FM, Algeria ambassador discuss situation in Middle East, North Africa

The sides had an intensive exchange of views on the situation in the Middle East, North Africa and the Sahara-Sahel region

MOSCOW, January 17 (Itar-Tass) – Russian presidential special envoy for the Middle East and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov received Algerian Ambassador Smail Chergui here on Thursday. The Algerian Embassy initiated the meeting.

“The sides had an intensive exchange of views on the situation in the Middle East, North Africa and the Sahara-Sahel region. They focused on the development of the current situation in Mali,” the Russian Foreign Ministry stated.

“During the negotiations topical issues on the Russian-Algerian agenda, including the schedule of bilateral meetings at different levels, were discussed as well,” the ministry noted.
