MOSCOW, January 15 (Itar-Tass) — The civil war in Syria will continue to escalate, President of the Institute of the Middle East Yevgeny Satanovsky told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.
“The civil war in Syria will continue and will be escalating, as the situation is deadlocked,” Satanovsky said. “President Bashar Assad cannot destroy finally the separatists and terrorists with that support that they are getting from abroad. They cannot destroy him as well, as the Brothers of Muslims are facing immediately the resistance of the local opposition in Christian and Alawite blocks,” he said.
“In the Palestinian camps, for instance, in Yarmouk outside Damascus, the groups, which are fighting against Assad, are confronting those who are fighting for Assad,” the experts went on to say. “So, the country is turning in “a big Lebanon”, and the forecasts are not optimistic,” he said.
