MOSCOW, December 17 (Itar-Tass) —— The Russian Embassy in Damascus is checking reports on the abduction of two Russians in Syria.

“We are checking this out. There is no confirmation so far,” the Embassy’s spokesperson Sergei Markov told Itar-Tass on Monday, December 17.

The Italian Foreign Ministry said earlier that an Italian citizen and two of his colleagues, presumably Russians, had been abducted not far from Tartus. All three were working at a steel plant in Latakia.
