MOSCOW, November 23 (Itar-Tass) — The delegation of the Syrian internal opposition is expected to visit Moscow next week, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said after the negotiations with his Bangladeshi counterpart Dipu Moni here on Friday.
Lavrov noted that members of the National Coordination Committee and representatives of the Kurdish opposition will visit Moscow.
“We are aware that they call for a political settlement. They do not agree with those decisions, which were taken in Doha in the creation of the so-called coalition, and do not agree with this, because these decisions contain a firm statement that there is no other way out than the overthrow of the ruling regime, and that no dialogue with the incumbent authorities is acceptable,” the minister noted.
“The oppositionists, who will meet with us, support the search for the agreements through the political dialogue that would open up the ways to the transitional period, the reforms that are ripen surely,” the Russian foreign minister noted.
“As for a new conference of the opposition, this is a matter of representatives of the opposition: both internal and foreign. It seems to me that this conference is needed, and we will support an initiative to unite the opposition not on the platform of war till the final victory, but on the basis of readiness to the dialogue,” Lavrov said. “It will be important for us to learn (from the Syrian delegation) the assessment of the prospects of this event – another conference for uniting the whole opposition,” Lavrov added.
