MOSCOW, November 2 (Itar-Tass) — Western attempts to impose the line-up of a future Syrian leadership contradict the agreements reached in Geneva, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov said on Friday.
“The attempts of Western sponsors of the Syrian opposition to impose the line-up of a future Syrian leadership contradict the agreements reached in Geneva,” Gatilov said in his Twitter microblog. “The Geneva communiqu· said that the provisional governing body should be formed on the basis of mutual accord between the government and the opposition,” the high-ranking diplomat recalled.
The United States has made a list of names and organizations, which, according to the US side, should form a future leadership of the Syrian opposition, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said before. This list will be presented next week at the meetings in Doha, where the Syrian opposition represented by the Syrian National Council is expected to consider the formation of the provisional government.
