MOSCOW, July 17 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and UN-League of Arab States Syrian envoy Kofi Annan hope that the United Nations Security Council members will able to reach an agreement on Syria.
“Russian is ready for this work, we reached a compromise in Geneva on June 30, and I don’t see reasons why we should not agree in the United Nations Security Council on the same principles,” Lavrov said after Kofi Annan’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday.
Kofi Annan described his Moscow talks as a “very good meeting.” In his words, it centered round the steps to be taken in order to put an end to violence and begin the process of peaceful settlement.
