MOSCOW, June 15 (Itar-Tass) —— Russia and the United Nations call for the steady fulfillment of the humanitarian plan for Syria, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Friday, referring to a meeting of Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Valerie Amos, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator.

Amos “expressed her gratitude for the significant increase of Russian contributions to the international emergency relief efforts in recent years and noted the leading role of Russia in the cleanup of the aftermath of large natural and man-made calamities,” the ministry said.

Lavrov and Amos discussed humanitarian aspects of the Syrian crisis. “They stressed the need for the steady fulfillment of the humanitarian plan coordinated with Damascus for solving the problems of local residents,” the ministry said.

The minister told Amos about the humanitarian assistance granted to Syria in the bilateral format.
