WASHINGTON, May 19 (Itar-Tass) —— The G8 position on Syria stated in the final communique is fully consonant with Russia’s stance on this issue, presidential aide Arklady Dvorkovich said.
“The final communique contains a call to the sides to stop violence and act responsibly, and it condemns terrorist acts,” Dvorkovich, Russia’s Sherpa in the Group of Eight, said on Saturday, May 19.
“Everything stated in this document matches Russia’s approaches. And there were no grounds for additional comments on the part of the chairman of the government,” he said.
Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev is attending the G8 summit at Camp David on behalf of Russia.
