MOSCOW, April 2 (Itar-Tass) —— Russia is ready to help Libyans solve the ambitious tasks they are facing, the Foreign Ministry said on Monday, April1, following a dramatic deterioration of the situation in the south of that country lately.

“As a result of fierce fighting near Sabha between armed tribal groups that control the region, about 150 people have been killed and nearly 400 wounded,” the ministry said.

“We were worried and alarmed by reports about the bloodshed in the south of long-suffering Libya that has not yet fully recovered from the consequences of a devastating civil war. Such situations escalate tensions in the region and undermine the Libyan leadership’s efforts to stabilise the political situation in the country, restore peaceful life, reconstruct economic and infrastructure facilities, and build a new democratic statehood,” the ministry said.

Moscow urges all parties involved in the conflict to stop violence and resolve their disagreements by looking for mutually acceptable solutions through dialogue.

“While offering support to the Libyan authorities’ efforts to carry on the political process, we reiterate Russia’s readiness to assist the Libyans in solving the ambitious tasks they are facing,” the ministry said.
