MOSCOW, March 24. /TASS/. Head of east Ukraine's self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic Igor Plotnitsky has urged US President Barack Obama not to follow a Congress call for lethal weapons to be sent to arm Kiev government forces, media reported.

"I’d like to note that President Obama has a chance… not to comply with the provocative recommendation of Congress," LuganskInformTsentr news agency quotes him as saying.

By passing such a resolution, Congress had demonstrated no wish "to preserve peace on the European continent, no matter how fragile it is, and added fuel to the fire of war", the report said.
