UN Security Council condemns rebels in Yemen and expresses support to legitimate president

UNITED NATIONS, March 22. /TASS/. The United Nations Security Council on Sunday condemned anti-governmental actions of rebels in Yemen and spoke in support of President Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi.

The Security Council confirmed the legitimacy of of President Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi and called on all parties in Yemen to refrain from any actions that might undermine the country’s unity, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, and the legitimacy of its president.

The document read out by Council President Franзois Delattre /France/ condemns unilateral steps taken by Houthi rebels that undermine the political transitional process in Yemen and pose a threat to the country’s security, stability, sovereignty and unity.

The members of the Security Council expressed concern over non-fulfilment of their resolution 2201 that called on the parties to stop violence and "engage in good faith and accelerate inclusive United Nations-brokered negotiations to continue the political transition in order to reach a consensus solution in accordance with the Gulf Cooperation Council Initiative and its Implementation Mechanism, the outcomes of the comprehensive National Dialogue conference, and the Peace and National Partnership Agreement and its security annex, and to implement it. ".
