MOSCOW, March 16. /TASS/. The supplies of weapons by EU countries to Ukraine would be an irresponsible step threatening the security of the whole of Europe, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexey Meshkov said on Monday.
"I would like to remind our EU partners that a whole system of international restrictions for such deliveries continues to be in effect," Meshkov said at hearings in the State Duma, the lower house of Russia’s parliament, which discussed Russia-EU relations.
"We're warning our European Union partners that the deliveries of lethal weapons would be an irresponsible and illegitimate step with very serious consequences for the security of the entire European continent," the Russian deputy foreign minister said.
"We drew attention to the statement [by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko] that he had agreements with 11 EU countries on the supplies of lethal weapons," Meshkov said. "No refutation of this information has come from any of the EU capitals," the Russian deputy foreign minister said.
