MOSCOW, February 26. /TASS/. The leader of the self-proclaimed unrecognized Luhansk People’s Republic, Igor Plotnitsky, has promised to hold a referendum on the republic’s future in case political renovations take place in Ukraine.
He said it on Thursday in an interview with Rossiya’24 news channel.
"If there is a new, overhauled Ukraine, a country that wouldn’t call Russia an aggressor and wouldn’t refer to us as separatists and terrorists, then why not?" Plotnitsky said. "We’ll hold one more referendum then and people will express their will and will tell us whom they’d like to live together with and how."
"We never discarded Ukraine as a state because it’s our neighbor," he said. "Whether or not we stay inside Ukraine depends primarily on what sort of Ukraine that would be."
"If this is a Nazi and Banderite Ukraine, then it’s not for us," Plotnitsky went on."We’ll never stay within the Ukraine of that sort. All the provisions that were spelt out in the Minsk accords prove that we give Ukraine one more chance to change its political system."
