Kiev blocking food supply to self-proclaimed DPR republic — DPR Contact Group envoy

According to Denis Pushilin, long queues of vehicles loaded with food products have formed at the checkpoints to enter the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic territory

MOSCOW, February 16. /TASS/. Trucks with food products have to queue up at checkpoints at the entrance to the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), the republic’s envoy to the Contact Group on Ukraine’s crisis resolution Denis Pushilin said on Monday.

"The economic blockade is currently being stepped up — contrary to the Minsk agreements. Long queues of vehicles loaded with food products have formed at the checkpoints to enter our territory," the Donetsk news agency quotes Pushilin.

The envoy also said that Kiev is currently making a list of persons and goods that are allowed to move through the checkpoints to enter DPR.

"At present, this list that is being coordinated in Mariupol does not include any company or organization that supplies foodstuffs to retail chains and other stores. This aggravates the humanitarian situation and a number of other problems, which actually runs counter to the Minsk agreements," Pushilin said.

In mid-January, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry limited the number of transport corridors to the military operation zone in the Donbas region in Ukraine’s south-east. The termination of passenger bus and freight traffic to the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) was announced later.
