MUNICH, February 6. /TASS/. NATO "fully supports" the latest initiative by the leaders of Germany and France to find a political solution to the conflict in Ukraine, Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said on Friday.

"The situation is very serious, it is critical," Stoltenberg said on his arrival in Munich for an annual security conference. "I fully support the new efforts of Chancellor Merkel and President Hollande to find a political solution."

In a new push for peace in Ukraine’s south-east, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande flew together to Kiev on Thursday with a proposal to resolve the conflict that could be "acceptable to all". Later Friday, the leaders will head to Moscow to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin.
