International conference needed to solve Palestinian issue — ambassador

“We believe that the conference could be held in Moscow,” Palestinian Ambassador to Russia Fayed Mustafa said

MOSCOW, January 16. /TASS/. The solution of the Palestinian issue demands transition from the format of negotiations to the format of an international conference, which could be held in Moscow, Palestinian Ambassador to Russia Fayed Mustafa said on Friday.

“We believe that such issue needs consideration and should be included on the agenda in the nearest future in order to hold an international conference on the resolution of the Palestinian issue,” the Palestinian diplomat said. “What we have now is the negotiations, which keep running for 23 years already, but yielded no results.”

“It is necessary to return to the format of an international conference and try using it to find a solution to the issue,” he said. “To switch to the format of the conference in place of the format of negotiations.”

Ambassador Mustafa also said that the Russian capital may be the venue for hosting the international conference on the Palestinian issue.

“We believe that the conference could be held in Moscow,” he said. “Russia, of course, has a certain priority.”

“But if there were proposals to hold the conference in some other place, we will consider all opportunities,” Mustafa added.
