YEREVAN, January 15 /TASS/. A protest rally is underway outside the Russian General Consulate in the Armenian town of Gyumri where a conscript of the Russian military base killed six people at dawn on January 12. The victims were buried in Gyumri on Thursday.

Earlier on Thursday, a mass rally took place outside the prosecutor’s office of the Shirak region. The protesters demanded that Private Valery Permyakov who had committed the homicide of the Avetisyan family be handed over to the Armenian side.

The protesters are rallying outside the Russian General Consulate in Gyumri at the moment. They are hurling stones at policemen armed with shields who have surrounded the consulate’s building. The demonstrators are hurling stones at the law enforcers. The sounds of exploding smoke boxes and light grenades can be heard.
