Suspected accomplice of Paris attacks gunman hiding in Syria — Turkish FM

Hayat Boumedienne, France’s most wanted woman and the partner of terrorist Amedy Coulibaly, arrived in Istanbul from Madrid on January 2, Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said

ANKARA, January 12. /TASS/. An alleged accomplice of a gunman, who seized a kosher supermarket in Paris last week, crossed the Turkish-Syrian border on January 8, Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said.

The minister told the state-run Anadolu Agency on Monday that Hayat Boumedienne, France’s most wanted woman and the partner of terrorist Amedy Coulibaly, arrived in Istanbul from Madrid on January 2.

“There are video recordings made at the airport. Upon the arrival, she and another person stayed at a hotel in Kadikoy (in Istanbul). And then on January 8 she left for Syria,” Cavusoglu said.

The details have become known from Boumedienne’s phone conversations with her companion, he added.

Boumedienne has been on the run since her partner Coulibaly killed a policewoman in Paris on Thursday morning. The following day he was shot by police after taking hostages in a kosher supermarket in Vincennes, in the eastern suburbs of Paris. A prosecutor said the attacker killed four hostages, while another 15 survived the siege.
