Russian official says security services should partner over terrorist acts in France

Security services should interact regardless of political disagreements between different countries in order to avert similar terrorist acts

QUITO, January 12. /TASS/. Chairman of Russia's parliamentary upper house committee for international affairs Konstantin Kosachev said security services should interact regardless of political disagreements between different countries in order to avert terrorist acts similar to the tragedy in France.

“The history does not tolerate subjunctive mood, but probably many horrible terrorist acts, including those in Paris, could have been prevented, if security services had continued partnership not limited by any political framework, notwithstanding the disputes different countries are having,” the Russian member of parliament told reporters on Monday on the sidelines of the 23rd session of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum which is being held in Quito, Ecuador’s capital, these days.

Seventeen were killed in the French capital and its neighbourhoods in the previous week. Ten journalists from satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, which had earlier published caricature images of Islam’s Prophet Muhammad, three policemen and four visitors of a kosher grocery store were assassinated in the terrorist attacks.
