SEOUL, January 12. /TASS/. South Korean President Park Geun-hye said Monday she is ready to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong-un without any preconditions to establish talks with Pyongyang. This meeting may lay groundwork for a possible peaceful reunification of two Koreas, she said.

“I can meet with anyone I want if necessary to pave the way for peaceful reunification,” Park Geun-hye told a news conference.

North Korea should show frankness of its intentions and take steps for making the Korean Peninsula nuclear-free, the South Korean president said.

In 2000 and 2007, two inter-Korean summits were held at which the then North Korean leader Kim Jong-il met with the then South Korean presidents Kim Dae-jung and Roh Moo-hyun.

North Korea has earlier agreed to abandon its nuclear weapons-making programmes. However, in 2006, 2009 and 2013, the country conducted underground nuclear tests, after that the United Nations has imposed sanctions on Pyongyang.
