BELGRADE, December 29. /TASS/. Croatian president will be elected in a run-off due on January 11. This step is caused by the fact that no candidate could gain 50% of the vote plus one vote needed for victory in the first round of Sunday presidential polls.

After 99.9% of election protocols were processed, the republican Central Elections Commission reported that incumbent President Ivo Josipovic gained 38.48% of the vote, his only rival from the center-right Croatian Democratic Union Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic — 37.18% The turnout has made 47.1%.

Ivo Josipovic focused in his election program on a stronger democracy and tolerance in the country and building good neighbourly relations with countries of the former Yugoslavia and promotion of integration process in the European Union.

Grabar-Kitarovic has built its election campaign on stepping up domestic energy security, fight against unemployment and hampering to foreign drainage of young people.
