MOSCOW, December 26. /TASS/. Understanding is growing in NATO member-states that it is impossible to build a stable security system in Europe without Moscow, Russia’s envoy to NATO Alexander Grushko said on Friday.
“I feel that understanding is growing among many NATO countries, first of all in Europe, that a stable European security system and overcoming the systemic crisis which we see now is impossible without Russia,” Grushko said during a video link-up.
The diplomat said Moscow’s partners should finally make a choice on how they will strengthen the Euro-Atlantic security - “either with Russia, without Russia or against it.”
The February coup in Ukraine and the civil war in the country’s east have led to a sharp deterioration in relations between Russia, the European Union and the United States.
The West has introduced anti-Russian sanctions over Moscow’s alleged involvement in the Ukrainian crisis. Russia has repeatedly dismissed Western allegations that it could in any way be involved in hostilities in eastern Ukraine.
